Lead Paint abatement (remove HPD/DOH violation)

Lead belongs to the carbon group of heavy metals. It is a chemical element with a Pb symbol. It is a malleable metal with blue-gray color. Usually, this heavy metal is used in construction buildings, bullets, batteries, fusible alloys, weights, cable covering, solder, collapsible tubes, and radiation shields. This metal is widely used as a combined ingredient with other metals in order to create an alloy or another chemical compound.

Lead-Based Paint is a highly toxic material that can cause serious bodily damage. Lead is particularly harmful to children, in whom it can cause learning and behavior problems and delay physical growth and mental development.  Lead Paint Law The City’s Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Act (Local Law 1 of 2004) requires landlords to identify and remediate lead-based paint hazards in the apartments of young children, using trained workers and safe work practices. Lead-based paint  is presumed to exist in a multiple dwelling unit if:
The resident building was built before 1960 (or between 1960 and 1978 if the owner knows that there is lead-based paint) and A child under the age of six lives in the apartment.

Our specially trained and EPA Certified Lead Abatement Supervisors and Workers will make repairs or abatement using lead-safe work practices including the setting up of containment areas that will keep lead dust from spreading throughout your home.  After work is completed they will utilize specialty cleaning methods to remove lead dust that remains. Depending on where lead hazards are found, there may be several rooms that you will not have access to during the work. If you can’t have access to a sleeping area, bathroom, and cooking area you will be asked to relocate temporarily to a lead-safe unit for 5-7 days.
At the end of work, a Clearance Test is performed by a third-party inspector. This test consists of lab-analyzed dust wipes and a visual inspection that determines whether the work areas are safe to re-occupy. Once the passing results are received, you may re-occupy areas. Program Staff will also monitor and inspect work to ensure safety, proper installation of items, and quality of work.
